Zusammenfassung: | There are no population based studies to establish the precise incidence or prevalence of deformational plagiocephaly, but the number of referrals to both paediatric and surgical units is increasing. 2- 4 Posterior deformational plagiocephaly occurs more commonly on the right and there is a notable male predominance. Deformational plagiocephaly has not been shown to be associated with any long term problems, although a concern regarding strabismus has been raised by some authors as a result of traction on the ocular globe from the underlying deformed bone in frontal plagiocephaly. 9 However, this has only been described in synostotic plagiocephaly and there is no evidence to support this theory in deformational plagiocephaly. |
