Changing lives and changing social structures: common concerns of social science and public health

Two of the ways in which social science efforts to understand and to improve have benefited from interchanges with the field of public health are detailed in an editorial. They include demonstrating how people's lives at every age are influenced by changes in social structures and environments and defining goals for structural interventions that could enhance people's lives in the future.
