Response of human foetal thymocytes to phytohaemagglutinin (PHA)

Human foetal thymocytes first respond to phytohaemagglutinin at about 14 weeks gestation. This corresponds to the completion of thymic differentiation and is perhaps the earliest, but still indirect, evidence of immune competence in the foetus.
