Ten patients with classical or definite rheumatoid arthritis (RA) according to the American Rheumatism Association's criteria agreed to take part in the study, which was approved by the Hospital Ethical Committee. All were female with ages ranging from 29-64 years (median 55 years) and a disease duration from 6 months-22 years (median 5 years).
