Zusammenfassung: | Lesions due to abnormal modelling of trabecular bone were identified in the femurs of 26 of 55 prenatal and neonatal calves at postmortem examination. Abnormalities included growth retardation lines and lattices, focal retention of primary spongiosa and persistence of secondary spongiosa. The possible cause and pathogenesis of these lesions is discussed. The normal radiographic and histological appearance of the developing bovine femur, during the last four months of gestation, is also described. |
