Zusammenfassung: | Surveillance alone is ineffective if it is not supported by public health action, and new tools need to be developed for responding to outbreaks of sexually transmitted infections. The rising numbers of men and women living with diagnosed HIV infection are also a cause for concern. This rise is the result of increased longevity thanks to successful treatment with highly active antiretroviral drugs combined with continuing indigenous HIV transmission. |
