Tc-sestamibi (MIBI) scan are standard imaging techniques for the detection of parathyroid adenomas in primary hyperparathyroidism. However, in presence of coexistent thyroid disease or small size of adenomas, the accuracy of these imaging modalities is low and leads to delayed diagnosis.
