Zusammenfassung: | Thermal, organic, and inorganic pollution can be identified and monitored by infrared aerial imagery. Infrared mapping systems record differences in the infrared radiation flux over the area being mapped. Some systems incorporate a temperature-controlled blackbody standard. Resolution and rapidity of sensing and recording are important design considerations. Infrared sensing of temperature can be used to map isotherms in bodies of water and trace thermal pollution; some work of this type has been done in Galveston Bay, Texas. By proper selection of wavelengths, it is possible to identify contaminants by their spectral emissivity characteristics. |
