Zusammenfassung:An analysis of 22 patients with thrombophlebitis among 9898 women, participants in a controlled study of oral and nonoral contraceptives, revealed no association between oral contraceptives and the development of thrombophlebitis. Five of the 22 patients (22.7%) suffered thrombophlebitis during the puerperium. This study reaffirms earlier findings that there is no correlation between the use of oral contraceptives and death due to pulmonary embolism, coronary thrombosis or coronary infarction, in the absence of a predisposing medical condition.
