Emotional Illness and the Working Environment

Some of the difficulties associated with the measurement of alterations in mental health resulting from the working environment are discussed. Causes of stress are described which stem from the individual and his relationships, and from the organization of which he is a part. The need for a re-evaluation of the industrial physician's role and for future collaborative studies of occupational mental health is suggested.
