Fatal Corpus Luteum Hemorrhage During Anticoagulant Therapy

Fatal intraperitoneal hemorrhage due to a ruptured corpus luteum of the right ovary is presented. The patient had been taking oral anticoagulant therapy for a 4-week period prior to death after successful mitral prosthesis for old rheumatic valvulitis. Unusual aspects of this case report include the absence of abdominal symptoms and the suggested rapid exsanguination related to anticoagulant therapy.
