Zusammenfassung:•Prevalence of urolithiasis in AS patients is higher than healthy controls and in other chronic inflammatory diseases.•Results suggest an association between spine ankylosis and urolithiasis.•Microscopic inflammation of the intestine in AS may contribute to the increase risk of urolithiasis.•The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as treatment for AS may explain higher prevalence.
