Endotoxin in the Plasma of Patients with Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases

Endotoxin is a component of the outer wall of Gram-negative bacteria. It is chemically complex and classified as a lipopolysaccharide. The biologically active moiety is Lipid A, which binds the complete molecule to the outer wall of the bacterium (1).
