Zusammenfassung:We herewith report the first case of uncomplicated urinary tract infection due to Corynebacterium striatum in an ambulatory patient without any other predisponent risk factors. C. striatum is a ubiquitous saprophyte of human skin and mucous membranes, which has been occasionally associated with infection in patients hospitalized or immunocompromised patients with underlying diseases. We conclude that C. striatum should be considered an emerging pathogen in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts.
