On the tracks of ethnography: reflections on nursing knowledge

This study presents a reflection on ethnography, as a means for developing knowledge in nursing. From the anthropologic conception of ethnography, and the comparison of a few studies by nurses who have used ethnography as a method/methodology in their research, considerations are made about problem solving techniques, the theoretical framework, the option for ethnography as a methodological mean, the conception and involvement with fieldwork and the ethnographic text developed within the nursing care setting. A few implications are then presented, making possible to perceive a special way "ethnonursing" has to contribute towards the discipline of Nursing.
