Win with bio-control

Bio-control agents may out-compete pathogens through the rapid colonisation of soil and subsequently monopolising available nutrients. Trichoderma harzarium, lor example, out-competes the Fusarium oxysporum group of wilt-inducing pathogens for access to root exudates and cellulose. Low iron content in soil inhibits pathogen growth. Some bio-controlling microbes monopolise iron supplies in the soil, thereby starving-out pathogens.
