Zusammenfassung:Under a $16 million grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), researchers are replacing damaged retinal epithelium with healthy tissue derived from human embryonic stem cells to prevent vision loss. Principal investigators are Dr. Humayun, who also is a professor of cell and neurobiology and biomedical engineering, and David R. Hinton, MD, a professor of pathology and ophthalmology, along with co-investigator Martin Pera, PhD, director of the Eli and Edythe Broad CIRM Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at USC.
