Zusammenfassung:Jackie Poirier, FCGA, is one of many CGAs who understand leadership and all that it entails as professionals ascend the organizational ladder. The higher you move in an organization, the more you know about what's going on in different parts of that organization, so you have to consider a lot more factors when making decisions, says Poirier, who is the regional director of human resources for the Canada Revenue Agency's Halifax office. She's been doing some mentoring with the Dalhousie University Masters of Public Administration program, because she's really passionate (that) leaders have an obligation to give back and help mentor and coach those that are going to assume those leadership roles after they move on, Poirier adds. Leaders also need to enable wellness in the organization, and allow people to balance health, family, and work. She thinks leaders have a real risk of becoming complacent if they don't continue to stay abreast of what's going on in the world around them.
