Boldness: From the Battlefield to the Boardroom

Cooper discusses the importance of the US DOD (DoD) to conduct thorough audits to elevate its level of performance. Within the past decade, the (DoD) has moved from combat readiness and effectiveness, while transitioning to the edge of innovation. This was a prominent topic of discussion at the 2024 Professional Development Institute. He comments that Many people in the government do not fully understand what audit is and therefore do not understand that it is not necessarily a negative thing when auditors come around. Once the auditors do come to visit, many are left wondering what one should expect to happen throughout the audit process. Upon completion of the audit, it is time for the follow-up and reporting back to the customer.
