Zusammenfassung:A vessel that can be remotely controlled does not sound very spectacular--until it becomes clear that we are talking about an inland waterway vessel loaded with 1,500 tonnes of cargo. Rhenus PartnerShip launched just such an ambitious research project, called FernBin, with renowned project partners, including Argonics, RWTH Aachen University, DST (the Development Centre for Ship Technology and Transport Systems) and the University of Duisburg-Essen. The goal is to enable remote control of an inland waterway vessel from a land-based control center.
