SUPPORT ON LAND AND SEA

US Navy Seabees with Amphibious Construction Battalion 1 constructed a life support area and channel crossing in Apr during Exercise Balikatan 2023 in Casiguran, Philippines. Life support areas provide service members, while deployed ashore, with housing, food, medical services, and sanitation and preparation areas. To build the camps, the sailors cleared and leveled six-acres of land and constructed facilities for 500 personnel. Crew members also built a 70-ft by 15-ft channel crossing requiring 900-T3 of material, large enough to support Combined Joint Logistics Over the Shore and the movement of heavy equipment to and from the Military Sealift Command ships supporting the exercise.
