UP APPOINTS NEW DEAN FOR ENGINEERING FACULTY

The University of Pretoria (UP) recently appointed Professor Wynand JvdM Steyn (Pr Eng) as Dean for the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT) with effect from Dec 1, 2022. Steyn holds a PhD in Civil Engineering, an MEng in Geotechnical Engineering and a BEng in Civil Engineering. He is a Fellow of the South African Academy of Engineering (SAAE) and the South African Institutution of Civil Engineering (SAICE) as well as a B3-rated NRF researcher and a Category A SANRAL researcher. Prior to his promotion, Steyn served as UP's Chair for the School of Engineering and Head of Department for Civil Engineering. He has been with the University of Pretoria since February 2009, prior to which he served as Principal Engineer at the CSIR.
