Tom Shaughnessy, director of business marketing at Sprint PCS, said the CWW strategy ushers in a new line of thinking about how to market to enterprises - one that directly leverages new data network capabilities. For Sprint PCS, selling to the enterprise is about selling speeds, but also the versatility of connection cards. Shaughnessy said the carrier relies more on the capabilities of data connection cards that can be used on laptop PCs, PDAs and phones than it does on the capabilities of the devices. The company is sensitive to how quickly the plethora of devices is being upgraded and expanded because that complexity can create problems for corporate enterprises.
