Living on the edge

Goodman relates his dangerous experience of almost steering his Hornet jet towards the turbulent waters, while aboard a carrier and attempting to make a full landing. While he was fortunate that the Hornet's nosegear had cocked itself 90 degrees right and was flat against the scupper, he narrowly missed hitting a parked Tomcat by a mere six inches. The incident has taught him a lesson of not letting the get-the-sortie mindset result into a bad decision.
