McGovern Automotive expands with acquisitions; Group adds 5th franchised store in '22

Auto retail veteran Matt McGovern has quickly grown his McGovern Automotive Group from just one store in fall 2016 to 20 new- and used-vehicle dealerships today, spanning three states, 18 brands and more than 1,100 employees. In mid-2018, McGovern said he added his first luxury dealerships, buying Audi and BMW stores in Shrewsbury, Mass., and in June 2020 he added his first Porsche dealership, also on Long Island. Dube, who also will continue to serve on the board of directors for the National Automobile Dealers Association, said he retained a minority interest in the dealership, but he did not disclose it.
