Samsung to Build Chip Plant in Texas

Electronics giant Samsung will construct a $17 billion chip factory in Taylor, Texas. The announcement comes in response to the global chip shortage that has left automakers and other manufacturers scrambling for semiconductors while disrupting supply chains. The South Korean-based tech company will construct a six-million-square-foot facility at the site near Austin, where it already maintains a separate manufacturing facility. The company was also considering possible sites in upstate New York and Arizona.
