Zusammenfassung: | Benjamin Britten's Friday Afternoons is a collection of twelve songs for treble voices. These pieces were composed from 1933-1935 and written for the students of Clive House, where Benjamin's brother Robert was director. Singing classes were held on Friday afternoons at the school thus the title of the collection. The Friday Afternoons Project began in Suffolk County, England during the 2013 centenary celebrations of Britten's birth. The project provides access to both repertoire and teaching resources. The melodies from Britten's original Friday Afternoons are included in the open-access resources, although the piano parts are not available. The Friday Afternoons Project not only focuses on the Friday Afternoons collection, but it also connects teachers and students to contemporary composers, their compositions, and additional resources to help you/your students get to know the composers. |
