Swallow features Don-Bur, a trailer and body manufacturer. Don-Bur has always met its order book in a timely fashion, it has until recently depended on 'round the clock' labor coupled with the reliability of its cutting machines to ensure enough raw material is cut to size for production. Its plasma cutter--later joined by two carbon dioxide lasers--worked 24 hours a day Monday to Friday, as well as on Saturday and Sunday, to cut the steel, aluminum and stainless steel required. The solution has been a £4m investment in a new laser cutter, press brake machine and auto welder, in a move that has brought efficiencies to the process along with greater standardization to the products.
