Health benefits

In University of Alaska v. Tumeo, the Alaskan supreme court ruled that the denial of health benefits to domestic partners by the University's employee health plan constitutes unlawful discrimination on the basis of marital status. The court affirmed a superior court decision of discrimination under Alaska's Human Rights Act of 1979, despite an amendment to the statute enacted by the state legislature.
