New international price series published by Nation and region

The Bureau of Labor Statistics' International Price Program has begun to publish quarterly import price indexes by region and country of origin. Data for manufactured and nonmanufactured goods for 1st qtr 1992 are available for developed countries, developing countries, Canada and the European Community, along with data from Japan and newly industrialized countries in Asia. The report shows that, internationally, prices of total imports declined 4.1% in 1991, but the country indexes show that some nations had more favorable price trends.
