The Burlington Private Well Database

The Board of Health in Burlington, MA, has developed a comprehensive well database, which lists information describing the location and construction of wells in town. By organizing these data into more usable form, an effective screen tool for reviewing development proposals with regard to stormwater management was developed. This database has enhanced local efforts to develop a regional approach to aquifer monitoring for the public water supply, while also allowing a more comprehensive overview of groundwater containment issues related to local hazardous waste sites to be developed.
