Zusammenfassung: | Beginning April 1, 1999, the reorganization of FTSE International indices resulted in information technology companies being placed into 2 new sectors, one covering hardware and the other covering software and computer services. The FTSE technology sector is valued at some 1.5% of FTSE All-Share Index, and the trendy Internet sub-sector at 0.03%. In the US, comparable indices have as much as 20% IT exposure. Developing a widely followed technology index is a prize worth aspiring to. Building an appropriate technology index is as much an art as a science. In Europe, the picture that emerges is different from that of the US because in Europe technology is more closely associated with telecoms. |
