Luckily, poor economic conditions didn't place too much stress on the growing operation, although the Boyces didn't see it that way at the time. "We moved in [to the new shop] right after Sept. 11, 2001," [Marcia Boyce] says, adding that the couple had to sign over their home to secure financing for the new facility. "We were nervous after that," she says of the terrorist attacks and the impact such security threats could and did have on the economy.
