Doherty records legacy of the Waldorf-Astoria's haute cuisine in first cookbook

The Waldorf-Astoria turns out an astonishing 1 million meals a year for presidents, celebrities and international travelers, not to mention guests at high-profile bashes like the annual dinner for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. All this food is created under the leadership of executive chef John Doherty. Now Doherty has decided to celebrate his kitchen's successes by writing a cookbook. The result is The Waldorf-Astoria Cookbook, a glossy blend of cuisine and history. It took nine months to get the cookbook contracts in order, and a quick three months to pack in all the work of creating it in 2005. The book was published in September 2006.
