Zusammenfassung: | In the information technology industry, certification by a supplier is similar to a driver's license. It is a ticket to a world of mobility, sociability, freedom and travel. Similarly, an IT worker's certification as a Microsoft certified systems engineer, for example, does much more than prove that the holder knows how to use Windows NT and Back Office. The IT industry is taking a long, hard look at alternative to vendor certification. As certification complicates the struggle to find and keep good employees, questions persist. On the positive side, vendor certification documents that a trainee has learned about a product and passed an exam. In order to retain employees and tie skills development to organizational goals, employees are looking for ways to put the dog back in control and keep the tail wagging. Among the alternatives are internal certification, industry certification, and supercertification. |
