Zusammenfassung:The State of Alabama, which entered the Union in 1819, and which joined the Southern Confederacy on Jan 11, 1861, contributed troops to both the Federal and Confederate Governments during the American Civil War. Most of the troops, some 100,000 of them, fought valiantly for the Southern cause, on fields of battle from 1st Manassas, to Gettysburg and Vicksburg, and on to the final surrenders in Apr 1865. Here, photographs of Alabama soldiers in Confederate service are presented.
