Lenders expect economic downturn

The most striking difference between a Bush and a Gore Administration will be felt in the areas of interest rates and business expansions, lenders believe. Half of the respondents to a recent survey said a Gore Administration would result in a rise interest rates, and 55% said business expansion would be down if Gore assumed office. Lenders were more optimistic about economic performance under a Bush Administration, with 40% predicting that business expansion would increase if George W. Bush were elected president.
