It is also somewhat unusual for non-CPAs to become owners in CPA firms. The author says she's very proud to be a non-CPA female shareholder in her accounting firm. It wasn't until she read a book by Gail Evans that it all started to make sense to her: she doesn't quite fit the mold of the typical career-focused female. Here are some fundamental ground rules for women who want to play the game: 1. You are who you say you are. 2. One prize doesn't fit all. 3. Work isn't a sorority. Sometimes, women must act like men by: 1. speaking out, 2. speaking up, 3. tooting their own horn, 4. taking a risk, and 5. sitting at the table. |
