Zusammenfassung:	The US economy grew faster in the first quarter of 1997 than it had the previous quarter. Real gross domestic product (GDP) grew 5.9%, due to increased inventories, consumer spending and equipment expenditures. Investments in structures decreased, as did exports. Corporate profits in financial and non-financial sectors grew by $42.4 billion, after falling in the previous quarter.
