COLE WESTON 1919–2003

Obituary of the American photographer Cole Weston (1919-2003). The author comments on Weston's outgoing personality and adventurous spirit, quoting from the memoirs of his father, the American photographer Edward Weston, provides an overview of his career, which began in the mid-1930s when he acquired a camera and learnt the rudiments of darkroom technique from his brother Brett, and of his main achievements, explaining that he worked as an assistant to his father from 1946 to 1958 while pursuing his own experimentation with colour photography, and comments on his best-known work, Surf and Headlands.
