Zusammenfassung:Worldwide, more than 16 million people already own a UMTS-compatible mobile phone. At the same time, the market is now offering a variety of attractive, UMTS-compatible mobile phones, and the number of UMTS users is rapidly growing. For these reasons, high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) has been developed to enhance UMTS technology. The objective of HSDPA is to optimize the UMTS system with respect to data services support. Another innovation with HSDPA is the use of adoptive modulation and coding methods. The biggest advantage of HSDPA is its seamless integration into the UMTS architecture. This makes it easier for network operators to convert to the new technology.
