New directions in imported fire ant control

In the landscape, fire ant damage results in great costs--with cost control ranging up to hundreds of dollars per acre and account for half the economic impact in urban areas. The biggest threat, however, from these pests is their ability to bite and sting since their venom can cause serious medical problems for people or pets. Here, Drees discusses the development of cost-effective, environmentally sound programs designed to improving control management of these pest ants.
