Zusammenfassung: | A national survey of property managers tried to identify which factors, if any, were important to a successful property management career. The 4 areas considered were: 1. demographics and level of responsibility, 2. skills and knowledge, 3. mentoring and environmental factors, and 4. barriers to advancement. The skills necessary for success are parallel between Certified Property Managers (CPMs) and non-CPM respondents, except for a reduced emphasis on written communication skills and an increased need for leasing/sales skills among non-CPMs. More than 50% of both groups believe that there are no barriers to advancement today. |
