Substance abuse remains an issue within the fire service that requires every department to conduct randomized urine testing. However, issues have been raised regarding the legality of random testing because they often violate the privacy rights of the individual and false positive results often cause innocent fire fighters to lose their jobs. But dismissal from duty won't stop fire fighters from using prohibited drugs.
