Let's vote for the audit committee

Proxy statements have long been cluttered with voting proposals seeking shareholder sanction of the outside auditors. Rather than repeating that empty exercise again this proxy season, corporations wishing to continue their voting tradition should turn their shareholders' attention toward the members of the audit committee. Simply stated, the shareholders' linkage with the audit process is through the audit committee.
