New President of Florida Gulf Coast U. Ousts Provost; U. of Nebraska Med Center Hires Couple; St. Louis Community College Makes Interim Chancellor Permanent

The University of Nebraska Medical Center has hired a husband-and-wife team of cancer specialists away from Northwestern University, with the goal of starting a center dedicated to breast-cancer research. Ms. Band, who worked at Harvard Medical School and Tufts-New England Medical Center before joining Northwestern, studies proteins that can be used for early diagnoses of breast cancer. Among the awards Ms. Harris has won in education are the American Association of Community Colleges' Leadership Award and CEO of the Year from the American Association of Community College Trustees.
