Zusammenfassung:The direct-fired units have no heat exchanger and no flue. The burner is mounted directly in the conditioned-air stream (Figure 1). These units are designed to provide virtually complete combustion. Most promotional literature lists 100-percent combustion efficiency but, realistically, you can count on 92- to 96-percent combustion efficiency. Additionally, turndown ratios on direct-fired units are typically 10 times what can be expected on an indirect-fired unit, 25:1 as opposed to 2.5:1.
