Mechanical consequences of coating penetration
Figures 5 and 6 show the modulus in the MD and CD of the water treated base papers. From these figures, it is seen that the modulus of the base paper decreases when more than 3.9 g/m2 of water is absorbed. Zusammenfassung: | Figures 5 and 6 show the modulus in the MD and CD of the water treated base papers. From these figures, it is seen that the modulus of the base paper decreases when more than 3.9 g/m2 of water is absorbed. Based on previous calculations (Table 2), 3.9 g/m2 of water absorbed corresponds to a coat weight of approximately 11 g/m2. Figures 7 and 8 show the influence of coat weight on modulus. At low cost weights, the modulus increases with coat weight. |
