Reshaped group charts public network path

The group tasked with crafting a common plan for the future of the public network has added Cisco and Alcatel to its ranks and has moved to a dues-based finance model. The members intend that the form will be independently hosted by the body secretariat of a major standards body and be subject to that standards body's rules. Several were under consideration. An announcement regarding hosting secretariat selection, and the new name, is expected following the election of the board and adoption of the terms that will apply to the effort.
