FACES

It was a time for celebration at the MFA's 28th annual American Image Awards, held on May 15. Hosted by Robin Givens, the event honored Jones Apparel Group's Peter Boneparth, Barney's Simon Doonan, Betsey Johnson, retailer Nordstrom and Mario Thomas. Presenters included Phil Donahue, Isabel and Ruben Toledo and Barney's Howard Socol, who quipped of Boneparth's purchase of the luxury retailer: "Here's a man who owned a company that sold a dozen shoes for $100, and he buys a company that sells one pair of shoes for $1,000.
